Trade & Corporate Accountability
SOLIDAR is working to influence the debate on how trading and corporate accountability rules can be changed in order to benefit people everywhere.
Trade Agreements
The EU's current trade agreements have come under criticism from labour movement, civil society organisations and governments in developing countries regarding their impact on decent work, inducing unemployment, lack of social protection, a drop in public services and concern about labour rights. These concerns have become even graver in these times of crisis.

The case of Colombia
SOLIDAR and our partners in the Global Network have been calling for a halt in the ratification of the EU-Colombia Free Trade Agreement due to the serious human rights violations which are taking place in Colombia. |
Corporate Responsibility
Workers in global supply chains face some of the most exploitative conditions of work. And yet, supermarkets and retail chains, amongst others are making greater and greater profits. In November 2009, the EU made a step forwards by stating its intention to operationalise the Protect, Respect and Remedy framework on corporate accountability.
What we want
SOLIDAR wants to see a re-evaluation of the current trading system to include decent work as a main aim and to see the EU come up with a concrete plan to implement the Protect, Respect and Remedy Framework.
