Decent Work and Enlargement
NAME OF PROJECT: Decent Work Balkan Network – Putting Equality and Solidarity at the heart of EU integration
PROJECT PARTNERS: Olof Palme Intenational Center (Sweden), SOLIDAR (Belgium), AGENDA Institute (Albania), Center for Democracy Foundation (Serbia), CLARD (Kosovo), STBIH (commerce Trade Union in Bosnia Herzegovina), Progress Institute for Social-Democracy (Macedonia) and Progetto Sviluppo CGIL (Italy).
PERIOD: January 2011 - January 2013
MAIN AIM:
To strengthen the capacity of trade unions, think tanks and NGOs to act together for the achievement of Decent Work in the Balkans through:
- Developing national and regional networks of trade unions and NGOs and reinforce their capacity to work together and in alliances.
- Strengthening the capacity of civil society organisations to (a) develop and implement joint advocacy actions and public campaigns; (b) formulate policy proposals; (c) be recognised as an interlocutor by local, national and regional authorities; (d) monitor the implementation of the European socio-economic acquis;
- Developing and implementing advocacy strategies contributing to Decent Work, greater social inclusion for the most vulnerable;
- Raising public awareness about the fundamental rights of the EU;
- Ensuring that the voices of the most vulnerable groups (women, informal economy workers) in the implementation countries are heard within governmental bodies and the wider community.
